Facebook’s “Like” Button and Linkedin Sharing: Global Opinion Taking Over

Posted April 30th, 2010 by

Global Opinion is here. The Facebook “Like” button is already spreading like wildfire, and it is my belief that it will soon be on almost every website  around the globe. That may sound like a bold statement, but when Facebook has more users than there are people in the United States, it puts things in perspective. Every company website and every blog will now offer the opportunity for users to state whether they endorse a product or service. It may take some time, but it’s definitely coming.

LinkedIn also recently announced a new feature that enables their users to share more with their network. Linkedin users now have the option to share any kind of content they like with their network. You can place a URL to an article, blog post, image or video into a field that all of the people in your network can see. You’re even free to edit the presentation of the content any way you see fit. In essence, you are in control of how the content looks to your users.

I’m not the first to say it, but I’m a big advocate of Linkedin and I believe it is as powerful (if not more) as Facebook because it is a BUSINESS social network at it’s core. Those types of connections command more dollars than anything.

So how much does this affect the game we’re all in? What will the Facebook “Like” button and LinkedIn’s new ability to share content bring to the world of marketing? Do you like the “Like” button? What do you think about LinkedIn’s new sharing features?

Tell us what you think in the comments!
